Our History
Where It All Began
Legos, Lincoln Logs and an Erector Set! I think as soon as my parents felt comfortable that I would not eat them, I began to stockpile anything that could be used for building. I was taking things apart and putting them back together while other kids we chewing on crayons. Building has always been a part of my life and although I continue to have a passion for all things construction, my focus will now be on building what is most important, and that is People! Thirty years in the construction industry took its toll on me and realizing that what I was doing was not sustainable, I knew I had to make a change and wanted to be part of a solution rather than a victim of the problem.
During my thirty years in the construction industry, I experienced the impact of good leadership, poor leadership, and no leadership. My desire is to equip others not only to lead positively but to attain the skills needed to develop others to also become strong leaders.
I have had the opportunity to lead at many levels in my lifetime. I grew up playing many team sports and as a father of two boys, coached youth soccer and baseball. I served as a Boy Scout Leader and have held numerous leadership positions in the business world and in my church community. Being a follower of John Maxwell for years, it was not difficult to see the one constant that is consistent at all levels – those who lead well, positively influence those around them.
It’s funny how clear things are in hindsight. Life has taught me that everything happens for a reason and when we accept that and hold on to our experiences, good and bad, we can have a positive influence on others when those opportunities reveal themselves.
So as you can see, it started in a sandbox with toy shovels and now I live on one of the biggest sandboxes in southern Florida and still love playing in the sand. Isn’t that interesting!
